What's new?

  • For those schools that have enabled the Microsoft Teams integration, students can now see Microsoft Teams assignments in their task listing.
  • We have added a hyperlink to the ICP filing text for sites hosted in China.

What have we fixed?

  • Google Classroom assignments in the task listing in the Firefly for Parents app will no longer appear in the To do list if they have been marked as Done or Marked.
  • There will no longer be an empty page at the end of the task list when the Google Classroom integration is enabled.

What have we fixed?

  • We have made some background changes so that Dashboards will load faster.
  • When a user updates their contact details from the dashboard, the notification will go to the correct email address if this changed in the control panel settings for this component.

What's new?

  • When copying tasks, it is now possible to copy the associated rubric, (success criteria). Rubrics in copied tasks will be copied in draft format, allowing them to be edited if required before the task is set. Co-owners of tasks will also be able to copy tasks and rubrics, making it easier for schools to set standard assessment criteria across multiple classes.

  • A number of visual fixes have been made to dashboard components in the Melody theme.

What have we fixed?

  • We have updated task notifications so that email notifications of tasks set for a future date will now sent out at 0700 (local time) for the school, respecting their local timezone.
  • We have fixed an issue whereby elements of embed code were appearing behind some videos in Firefly pages. Videos will now display as expected.

What have we fixed?

  • Co-owners of tasks are now able to copy tasks, allowing teachers to share best practice, or simply to save time by using the work other teachers have set previously.
  • It is now possible to copy a copy of a task, making it possible to reuse any task in Firefly. This will save time for teachers and make it easy for them to update and reuse assignments year after year.
  • Co-owners of tasks will be able to view the associated markbook page, when the original task setter no longer has a Firefly account, ensuring that it is possible to track student progress consistently.
  • Copying tasks now correctly copies the task description.
  • Schools using CSV uploads to manage their users and timetables will now be able to click on their timetable to see the associated class details.

  • In order to make Teams Meetings in Firefly easier to manage, Teachers can now prevent students from being presenters in these meetings.

  • We have fixed an issue that was preventing tasks from being copied, and also made it possible for co-owners of tasks to copy them.
  • When downloading a file, the download page will now display the correct information.
  • We have fixed an issue that was affecting files being opened on iOS devices

What's new?

In order to provide schools with a better understanding of how their school community is using Firefly we have released an early Beta version of our Insights tool to all Cloud schools, available until the end of July. This new feature in Firefly will provide site administrators with greater visibility of:

  • How Firefly is being used on a day to day basis, as well as how this compares with the previous week.
  • When teachers, students and parents are engaged, allowing them to see activity at different times of the day. This will allow school leaders to better understand their students' working patterns and know when best to communicate with parents.
  • The engagement and activity of different groups with the ability to filter by teacher, student or parent users.

Please note the following specifications:
  • Insights will only be visible to site administrators of cloud-hosted schools running Firefly 6
  • Update is currently not available to schools in China
  • This version will display the last 14 days of data, (the last 7 days on first release)
  • Users may need to log out and log in to see the Insights button
  • The release will be available in all Firefly packages until the 31st July

What's new?

  • In response to safeguarding concerns raised by schools, we have changed our Microsoft Teams Meeting integration so that only teachers will be able to set up Teams Meetings via Firefly. Student will still be able to attend meetings created by their teachers, but they will not have the ability to set up their own meetings.

What have we fixed?

  • We have resolved an issue that was preventing some tasks from being visible to students in the Firefly for Students app on iOS and preventing teachers from providing feedback through the Firefly for Teachers app.
  • We have made some changes to our Microsoft Immersive Reader integration to improve the stability of this feature in Firefly.

What's new?

  • As part of our ongoing partnership with Microsoft, it is now possible to use the Immersive Reader tool from Microsoft within Firefly's standard resource pages. This will allow text on the page to be viewed in a different format within Immersive Reader, making it more accessible to those students who require more support. The translation feature will also allow those parents for whom English is not their first language to have the text presented to them in the language of their choice.
Note: In light of the COVID-19 crisis, we are making this feature available as a pilot to all cloud-hosted Firefly schools until September 2020. We will confirm pricing and packaging at that time.

What have we fixed?

  • We have fixed an issue that was preventing the Navigation component to appear as expected
  • When a teacher chooses to not allow students to see the other recipients of a task, the names of the recipients are no longer included in the email notification for the task.

What's new?

  • Users working with OneDrive documents will now be given the option to add a link to their Firefly page or task if the document permissions are such that the file cannot be embedded.
  • To make it easier for teachers to support their students through distance learning, schools using Microsoft Teams will be able to create MS Teams Meetings from within Firefly pages and tasks.

What's new?

  • To help teachers track tasks more effectively, those tasks requiring feedback only, with no mark or grade, will indicate this in the markbook with a speech bubble. Once feedback has been given a tick will appear in the bubble.
  • To comply with local regulations, all sites hosted in China will now display the appropriate ICP number on the login page

What have we fixed?

  • Students will no longer be able to see who else received a task if the "show who else this task was set to" option is unchecked on the mobile apps.

What's new?

  • The latest version of the markbook adds a new set of colour coding into tasks. Red - amber - green traffic lighting means that teachers can spot at a glance where students are excelling and are ready for extension work, or those students that have struggled and might need further support. This gives teachers the immediate visibility they need to track their students progress quickly and easily.

What have we fixed?

  • We have fixed an issue with the OneDrive plugin that was affecting IE11 users.
  • Students using the mobile apps can no longer see the other recipients of a task if the "show who else this was set to" option is unticked.
  • Tasks with Success Criteria show correctly in the Markbook.

What's new?

  • We have made some further updates to the Firefly markbook. When a teacher selects a mark in the markbook, the pop-up cell has been replaced with a new panel to the right of the screen. This new feature will give greater detail concerning the progress of the individual student, with a more in-depth breakdown of the task, the student's work and the associated feedback from the teacher. This will save time and make it easier for teachers to track their students progress task by task.
